The lien.to extension creates and finds your links from the browser without reading your browsing history.
Install the extension
During testing, download the pre-production archive provided by your team, then load it in your browser’s developer mode. The Chrome Web Store publication will happen after V1.
The extension works with Chrome, Edge and Brave. It asks only for the access needed for its panel, its storage and the tab you choose to shorten.
Open the lien.to panel and click Sign in. A lien.to page lets you choose the workspace to connect and authorizes the extension. Each connected workspace remains available in the panel switcher.
You can also start sign-in from Options. To disconnect the current workspace, open the panel menu or the extension settings. You can also revoke the session from Settings > Sessions in lien.to.
Shorten the open tab
Click the lien.to icon or use the shortcut shown in Options. The panel displays the tab title and address. Choose the domain, code and folder, then click Create link. The extension copies the short address and displays its QR code.
Browser-internal tabs and pages that are not web pages cannot be shortened. Tab access is granted for the requested action, not for your browsing history.
Create a deep link
On an eligible YouTube or TikTok video, Instagram post, or Spotify page, the lien.to deep link button appears next to the share actions. Click it to reuse an active link from the workspace or create one, then copy its address.
If you are signed out, the button offers to sign you in. If copying fails, click Copy in the bubble and try again.
Manage the extension
In Options, choose the default workspace and domain, check the keyboard shortcut, and enable or disable the deep-link button for every site or each site individually. Changes are saved immediately.
The extension reads the page URL and title only when you explicitly ask it to create a link. It sends nothing when a page loads, does not read your browsing history, and cannot access your cookies or files. Your tokens remain in the browser’s secure storage.
